FBI Warning on Internet Doomsday Awareness

The FBI has been warning consumers that criminals have infected millions of computers around the world with malware called DNS Changer which allows them to control DNS servers. As a result, the cyber thieves have forced unsuspecting users to fraudulent web sites, interfered with their web browsing, and made their computers vulnerable to other kinds of malicious software. This malware; which can infect both Windows PCs and Apple Macintosh computers, redirects computers to hacker-created Websites and also prevents users from updating or using anti-virus software.

Durham Joins Bank Board

Mark Dan Durham was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of Horizon Community Bank and its holding company Horizon Bancorp, Inc. "We have been wanting to expand our board and when we made a list of the characteristics we were seeking, Mark filled the bill perfectly" said Dr. Hitendra Chauhan, Chairman of the Board. "Our bank has struggled for the past few years as we dealt with the downturn in the economy and property values. We believe we have our problems behind us and were looking for someone with a track record of business success and high ethical standards to help us pursue a strategy of growth. Mark offers these strengths and is a well respected, long standing member of the Parker Community" said Jerry Ernst, President and CEO. Mark is President of Durham Construction INC, which is located in Parker Dam and has been in the Parker and Lake Havasu Area for the past 21 years. Durham Construction INC is currently the General Contractor for the ASU Project in Lake Havasu City. Mark is an active member of the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce and is also the current President of the Colorado River Building Association in Lake Havasu City, AZ. What keeps Mark, his wife and 3 children busy on the weekends is their interest and love of the Colorado River and surrounding desert. They all enjoy the activities during summer and winter which includes swimming, fishing, water skiing, hiking, motorcycle riding and boat racing.

NAVARETTA JOINS BANK BOARD

Navaretta was an original investor in the bank in 2003. She and her husband own Pitzers One Hour Air Conditioning and Ben Franklin Plumbing with operations throughout Mohave County and in Prescott Valley. In business since 1986, she and John are both active and vital members of our community with memberships in service organizations including Past President of Soroptomist International in Lake Havasu and active in the Lake Havasu Foundation for Higher Education, K12 Foundation, and Mohave Community College Foundation as well as the chamber of commerce. Additionally, Jo has served our community as President of the School Board since 1992.

Horizon Community Bank Welcomes their New CEO/President

Lake Havasu City, AZ - The Board of Directors of Horizon Community Bank welcomes Jerry Ernst as their new President and Chief Executive Officer.

Jerry brings with him 20 years of CEO experience ranging from bank start up operations to banks with $350 Million in assets. Jerry recently was the President/CEO and Director of Providence Bank, in Winter Haven Florida. Under his direction he formulated a strategy and increased loans, deposits and changed the culture to a positive sales and service force. During the 90’s, Jerry was located in Lake Havasu City, where he served as President/CEO and Director of a denovo bank. Through his direction the bank was profitable in 5 months.

Jerry earned a degree from Western Illinois University and completed the Graduate School of Retail Banking at the University of Virginia. Jerry is a long time member of Rotary, served as the President of Mohave County Airport Authority; United Way Campaign Chair; President of Lake Havasu Visitors and Convention Bureau; President, Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce; President, Western Independent Bankers Association; and Chairman of the Lake Havasu Economic Development Corporation.

Jerry has been married 33 years, has 4 adult children and enjoys reading, music, sports, crossword and travel. It’s with great pleasure Horizon Community Bank welcomes Jerry Ernst.
