Full Time Universal Banker

Description:

The Universal Banker 1 is the entry level position at Horizon Community Bank. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 months banking experience with a strong aptitude for customer service and relationship building. In this position the candidate will have strong cash handling and customer service experience and should be able to open basic new accounts within the first six months of employment. In addition, individuals in this position should be able to refer clients to their appropriate business partners for more advanced relationship development.

Duties: 

• Completes all teller transactions, customer inquiries and Cash Handling Duties

• Maintains a safe working environment

• Aids in daily operations of the banking center

• After 6 months is able to open fundamental new accounts and services

• Knowledge of: On-line banking, bill pay, product knowledge and basic referring skills.

• Uncovers client needs and offers solutions

Responsibilities:

• Insures all BSA and Compliance regulations are adhered to

Income Potential:

The Universal Banker 1 has a salary range up to $16 per hour. Other income can be earned in referral generation to our loan departments as well as merchant service partner. In addition, yearend bonuses and 401k match are available to those who participate.

• Must be able to move and lift up to 50lbs. (full coin bags) to a height of 2-3 feet and bend approximately 45 degrees to empty coin bags into coin counter machine. Able to squat to retrieve cash and coin from teller cabinet.

• Ability to stand or sit 50% of the time.

• Must be able to walk around the bank to access file cabinets, office machinery and drive through teller window.

• Dexterity – constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as; calculator, copy machine, and computer printers.

• Must frequently convey detailed or important information, ideas or instructions accurately and promptly.

• Must be able to hear normal conversations and exchange accurate information with customers.

Summary:

Candidate must be focused on providing tailored business banking solutions to small business and professional clients.  The successful applicant must have an outgoing personality-has to like people and being around people.  The successful applicant must also have experience selling and closing the sale to businesses and professionals.  Knowledge of banking products and/or knowledge of how to run a small business is a plus.   We’re looking for someone with ambition and a competitive spirit.  Professional appearance, communication skills, strong persistence and follow up are required.

Duties: 

·         Establish a prospect list and continue to replenish the list through involvement with professional and civic business groups like the chamber or trade associations. 

·         Ask for referrals from contacts and customers. 

·         Call on that list in person and follow up in person. 

·         Present our value proposition to move banking relationship to us. 

·         Understand the services business and professionals need and use.

·         Understand how our products and services save them time or money or make them time or money. 

·         Understand basics of business credit.

Knowledge, Skills, and Education Requirements:

A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; a four-year college degree is preferred. Two to five years’ sales experience including active business development and outside sales calls required.  Application of concepts of basic accounting, and the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, payments, and percentages is required. Must be able to define needs, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. The ability to investigate and solve problems, and analyze and interpret information, write general business correspondence and effectively present information and respond to questions is required. Must be able to develop new business and cross-sell all Bank products.

Physical Requirements:

This person must have the ability and means of transportation to and from potential customers. Ability to effectively interact orally, visually and in writing with customers and other employees; strong ability to comprehend and retain detailed information; ability to identify potential relationships that will be profitable to the Bank, to include mathematical skills and the ability to analyze and weigh a variety of facts; and the ability to understand, recall and explain the various products offered by the Bank.
