Commercial Credit Analyst

Supports the commercial lending platform through financial and credit analysis and underwriting processes by gathering, analyzing and interpreting all types of credit information on existing and prospective clients and portfolios. Makes recommendations and supports decisions regarding the extension of credit for diverse loan types. Investigates and analyzes credit. Prepares and presents credit presentations to Relationship Managers/Loan Officers and committees for use in making credit decisions on new, renewal and extension loans. Monitors customer accounts and loan portfolios in order to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss. Supports the analytical processes involved with determining Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses (ALLL); board reporting; regulatory reporting; credit portfolio stress testing; internal and external loan review; and financial auditing.

Duties

  • Providing quality service to internal customers through undertaking risk assessment analysis of various types of lending proposals.
  • Analyzing financial information such as balance sheets, income and cash flow statements, and periodic financial reporting of all types.
  • Perform loan and portfolio level stress testing of financial results, collateral and credit variables.
  • Develop models and methodologies of credit information to predict patterns and trends using specific statistical software.
  • Assessing the overall credit worthiness of client companies.
  • Stay informed of regulatory, policy and procedural requirements to ensure compliance throughout the underwriting and credit administration processes.
  • Keep well informed as to market conditions as it relates to assessing risk in credit transactions.
  • Liaising with other staff within the company, such as account managers and product specialists to support the delivery of new and expanded products and services to clients.
  • Performs other duties as assigned from time to time by management of the bank.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or Statistics with a strong basis in financial accounting.
  • Well-developed credit analysis and analytical skills supported by formal credit and cash flow training.
  • Well-developed skills in the use of proprietary or non-proprietary analytical software supported by expert level skills in the use of Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Some experience in credit portfolio management.
  • Experience with government guaranteed and credit enhanced lending programs such as SBA 7A and 504 as well as USDA.
  • Direct experience with Buker’s Tax Analysis and FSA analytical software would be beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of credit administration, policy and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of economics and finance.
  • Basic knowledge of risk analysis.
  • Effective technical report writing skills.

Construction Loan Officer

Summary:     

The Construction Loan Officer reports directly to the Chief Credit Officer (“CCO”) and is responsible for developing relationships with qualified builders, developers and individuals within the bank’s market area in order to source, solicit and sell residential and commercial construction and land development loans. Interviews applicants and analyzes and underwrites applicant's credit and financial status and obtains property appraisals to determine feasibility of granting loan. Recommends loan terms and conditions and ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to policy. Approves loan within established limits or refers to loan committee for approval. Administers and manages the construction loan portfolio including disbursement of loan proceeds based on the completion of designated project milestones (draw requests and inspections). This position requires the application of well-defined credit/analytical skill sets developed through formal education and experience through the interview, underwriting, loan structuring and funding processes. Exercises sound credit judgment in approving loans within established guidelines or recommending loans for approval by loan committee that meet bank objectives and are compliant with credit policies and regulatory and guidelines and laws.  Effectively manages loan portfolio to ensure growth, earnings and proper risk management.

Duties:

  • Responsible for identifying, acquiring, underwriting and growing existing and new lending and deposit relationships with builders, developers, realtors and individuals through effective business development efforts.
  • Applies credit/analytical skills toward the effective underwriting of credit risk and engages in development of loan structure, terms, pricing and documentation toward the approval and closing of loans that achieve the objectives of the bank.
  • Analyze and underwrite general contractor qualifications and financial capacity.
  • Obtain and analyze all construction project documentation, including but not limited to construction contracts, construction budgets, plans and specifications, engineering reports, appraisals, etc.
  • Administers and manages the construction loan portfolio including disbursement of loan proceeds based on the completion of designated project milestones (draw requests and inspections).
  • Engages qualified third party firm to preliminarily review and assess the viability of plans, specifications and budget of the construction project and provide for ongoing construction inspections in support of the draw request process to ensure proper budget management.
  • Serves as the borrowers' primary point of contact throughout the loan disbursement process. Effectively manages the construction loan portfolio by monitoring ongoing financial reporting and covenant compliance; manages delinquency; effective modification renewals and extensions of credits; and appropriate ongoing risk ratings.
  • Maintains knowledge of bank products and services and collaborates with internal and external business partners of the bank so as to consultatively provide for the full scope of the client’s financial needs resulting in a deep and diverse client relationship that maximizes the profitability of the bank.
  • Maintain ongoing knowledge of the local, regional and national economic conditions as well as all industry sectors with which the bank engages so as to be cognizant of the external forces and market trends impacting the overall asset quality of the loan portfolio.
  • Ensure all collateral interests taken to secure the lending exposure of the bank are legally perfected and appropriately valued, monitored and insured.
  • Comply with all bank policies and procedures as well as related Federal, State and industry laws and regulations pertaining to the bank’s lending and banking activities.
